This is a full lifecycle business development role, with responsibility for originating new business opportunities, developing and managing project bids from initial engagement through to agreement, and building long-term relationships across the non-residential energy infrastructure market.

The role is remote-based, with regular travel essential for client meetings, site visits, internal collaboration and industry events.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Gathering and analysing technical, commercial and programme information to assess project suitability for IDCSL asset adoption and investment
  • Working closely with internal commercial, engineering and leadership teams to develop robust, competitive proposals
  • Managing customer proposals through clarification, negotiation and agreement stages, ensuring a professional and responsive customer experience
Performance Management & Reporting
  • Working to agreed annual business development and sales targets
  • Building, maintaining and managing a structured and transparent sales pipeline
  • Providing regular reporting on sales performance, pipeline progression and bid status in line with internal governance and forecasting requirements
Relationship Management & Representation
  • Acting as a key point of contact for customers throughout the project development phase
  • Representing IDCSL at industry events, client meetings and business forums
  • Supporting a positive, consistent and customer-focused brand presence across all engagements
What We’re Looking For
Essential
  • Experience in a business development, commercial or sales role within utilities, energy, infrastructure or a closely related sector
  • Demonstrated ability to originate new business opportunities and manage them through to agreement or contract
  • Experience preparing, managing and presenting commercial bids or proposals
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to balance customer requirements with business objectives
  • Ability to work independently in a remote role whilst collaborating effectively with internal teams
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly across the UK
Desirable (but not essential)
  • Experience within the electricity connections market, including IDNO, ICP, DNO/DSO or EV infrastructure environments
  • An established network within the UK energy infrastructure or utilities sector
  • Familiarity with the regulatory and commercial framework associated with non-residential electricity connections and asset adoption

We recognise that candidates may meet these requirements in different ways and welcome applications from individuals with transferable skills and experience.

What’s on Offer
