Independent Distribution Connection Specialists Limited (IDCSL) is a fully licensed Independent Distribution Network Operator (IDNO) operating within the UK electricity industry. We own and operate electrical distribution networks and work closely with Independent Connection Providers (ICPs), developers, consultants, and end clients to deliver flexible, reliable, and cost-effective connection solutions.

Our projects focus exclusively on non-residential developments, including Industrial & Commercial schemes, Electric Vehicle (EV) infrastructure, generation and storage, data centres, and other emerging energy and infrastructure markets.

The Role

IDCSL is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Land Rights Manager to support the legal and commercial delivery of non-residential electricity connection projects across the UK.

The role will be wholly responsible for the legal instruction and ongoing management of land rights, leases, easements, licences and associated property consents.

The Land Rights Manager will liaise with internal external teams, solicitors, Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) and developers to ensure projects progress efficiently. Providing clear updates to stakeholders.

This is a remote-based role with occasional travel and offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-value infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
Legal Instruction & Land Rights
  • Prepare and manage legal instructions for projects following acceptance.
  • Oversee land rights, easements, licences, and adoption consents, ensuring affected landowners are represented.
  • Conduct title/highways checks to identify land ownership or planning risks.
  • Review legal plans and ensure accurate documentation for adoption or asset transfer processes.

 

Adoption Consents & Compliance
  • Manage adoption consents and liaise with solicitors and internal/external stakeholders for responses.
  • Support volume utilities adoption and repeat processes across multiple schemes.
  • Review development proposals for compliance with permitted development rights, flagging planning requirements to the Operational Team.

 

Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting
  • Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, providing clear written and verbal communications.
  • Issue weekly project status updates to customers and end-users, highlighting progress, risks, and next steps.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of standard legal processes and documentation.

 

Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, consistency, and customer experience across legal and adoption processes.
  • Support forward-thinking, customer-focused governance and project delivery.
Candidate Profile
Essential
  • Previous experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or legal coordinator, ideally in utilities, infrastructure, property, or construction.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities concurrently.
  • Confident managing internal and external stakeholders verbally and in writing.
  • High attention to detail and proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote role while collaborating effectively with teams.

 

Desirable (but not essential)
  • Experience in electricity connections, IDNO, DNO, ICP, or related energy infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with land rights, easements, wayleaves, licences, or utilities adoption processes.
  • Exposure to planning requirements or permitted development rights in infrastructure projects.
